1.4. Website Storage Limits

Most live LibPress websites use less than 100MB of storage, and we encourage libraries to use less than 200MB of space (we notify libraries in advance if they are nearing this limit).  We encourage libraries to stay under the 200MB mark through the use of compression tools, regular site maintenance, and support from the Cooperative.

Regarding graphics, LibPress includes automatic compression for images when they're uploaded, but we still need libraries to use an image compressor before uploading images to their sites.  Ideally, images will be compressed to less than 100KB, but they can occasionally be up to a few hundred KB.  Microsoft Office 2010 (Office Picture Manager) includes a compression tool and there are free ones available, such as Caesium - http://download.cnet.com/Caesium/3000-2192_4-75328052.html.

PDF files can also take up a lot of space. If you have Adobe software, it usually includes compression options when saving a document.  If you're not able to compress a PDF before uploading, other options include:
