Audio-Enabled Devices

Playaways
Yoto Cards
Tonies

Audio-enabled devices are audiobooks that are either preloaded on a proprietary audio device or preloaded onto a card or figurine that is inserted into a proprietary audio device. Examples of audio-enabled devices are Playaways, Yoto cards and players, and Tonies and Tonieboxes.

Cataloguers should follow standard practices for cataloguing these items, with the exception of the specified parameters included in these guidelines.

When the specified parameters are met, records for Playaways, Yoto cards, and Tonies will display in the staff and public catalogues with both the Audio Device and Preloaded Audio icons.

Yoto players and Tonieboxes should be catalogued as non-bibliographic resources per your library’s policy on cataloguing equipment. They will display in the staff and public catalogues with the Toy, puzzle, or equipment icon.
